Meriden Player's Personal Numbers Turn a Dream into $100,000 Reality

When Michael Chesson decided to check his Powerball ticket for the January 25, 2023, drawing while lying in bed, he thought he was dreaming. Michael had correctly matched four of the winning numbers, plus the red Powerball number.
"I yelled, 'Alexa, turn on the light," because I couldn't see all that well," said Michael, who lives in Meriden. He had correctly matched four of the winning numbers, plus the red Powerball number, resulting in a $100,000 prize.
After checking his numbers multiple times, Michael realized he was not, in fact, dreaming, so he proceeded to call his wife Rebecca, who was on her way to work. Michael excitedly informed his wife that they had won.
Michael's winning numbers came from a set of numbers he has used for years that use a combination of his parents' dates of birth and his house number. The Chessons, who are splitting the prize evenly, will be using the money to pay off some bills and will put some of it towards buying a house down south, where they plan to move after Rebecca retires in less than two years.
