CT LOTTERY WARNS PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR FAKE LOTTERY WEBSITES AND APPS TARGETING CT PLAYERS
The CT Lottery is warning players to be on the lookout for fraudulent websites and apps posing as official CT Lottery platforms. The websites and apps look real, but they’re not.
“The security of our players is a top priority and we will do everything we can to protect them,” said Frank Suarez, President & CEO of the Connecticut Lottery Corporation.
The fake ads
have been appearing primarily on Facebook and Instagram. They illegally feature the CT Lottery’s logo, scratch and draw game images, app icons, and other Connecticut imagery in an attempt to trick users. When clicked, the ads direct consumers to third-party sites that prompt consumers to register and provide banking information — including requests for cryptocurrency.
If you spot one of these ads on your Facebook, Instagram, or another social media platform, report it immediately through that platform’s fraud reporting tool.
Players are
encouraged to contact the CT Lottery directly with any questions.
