Fairfield Retailer Sells $2,000,000 Prize-Winning Powerball® Ticket for January 4 Drawing

ROCKY HILL, CT/January 5, 2023 – While no one hit the Powerball jackpot for the Wednesday, Jan. 4, drawing, one lucky Connecticut player matched the first five numbers drawn and won $2,000,000 on a winning ticket purchased at Cumberland Farms #4740 at 1101 Post Road in Fairfield.

The winning Powerball numbers for January 4, 2023 were, 12 - 32 - 56 - 67 - 68. The Powerball number was 26, and the Power Play® multiplier was 3.

Because the winning ticketholder added the Power Play option to their ticket, the normal prize of $1,000,000 was automatically doubled to $2,000,000.

Players for the January 4 drawing have 180 calendar days, or until July 3, 2023, to claim their winning tickets.

Saturday night's Powerball jackpot is an estimated $325 million with a cash value of $165.2 million. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.

Powerball costs $2 per wager. The Power Play feature costs an additional $1 per wager — it can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, or 5 times. On drawing nights (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday), wagering closes at 10:00 PM and reopens at 11:15 PM.
